He was guillotined during the French
revolution.
Louis was officially arrested on
08-13-1792.
The republic of France was declared in
09-21-1792.
Louis was tried from 12-11-1792 and
convicted of treason before the National
Assembly.
His last will was written on 12-25-1792.
He was sentenced to death 01-17-1793 by guillotine with 361 votes 288,
with 72 effective abstensions.


His last words :

I die innocent of all the crimes laid to my charge; I Pardon those who
have occasioned my death and I pray to God that the blood you are
going to shed may never be visited on France.

Louis head is shown before a cheering crowd “vive la Republique !”
Immediately after the execution, the body of Louis was transported to
the cemetery of the ancient Church of the Madeleine.
It was placed in a pit six feet square, close to the wall of the Rue d’Anjou,
and dissolved instantly by a great quantity of quicklime with which they
took the precaution to cover it.

He married 05-16-1770 Maria Antoinette (11-2- 1755 / 10-16- 1793 ).
